10.1 Source and victim
Situations in which the question of electromagnetic compatibility arises invariably have two complementary aspects. Any such situation must have a source of interference emissions and a victim which is susceptible to this interference. If either of these is not present, or if there is no coupling path between them, there is no EMC problem. If both source and victim are within the same piece of equipment we have an “intra-system” EMC situation; if they are two different items, such as a computer monitor and a radio receiver, it is said to be an “inter-system” situation.
