Preface to the Second Edition
Since the first edition of this book was published, the world has moved. Many things have changed, but others have remained constant. The world of embedded software has progressed, with new processors and technologies becoming common, resulting in changes to the world of the embedded software engineer. With this in mind, the folks at Elsevier approached me with a view to updating the book for a new edition and I was delighted to accept.
This book has a selection of new articles in many chapters and two new chapters that look at open source software and multicore. Of course, I removed a few articles that seem less relevant.
