Community Information Service (CIS)

Abstract

Community information (CI) is the information that people need in their everyday lives. The information service through which CI is provided to the members of a community can be called Community Information Service (CIS). An information center that specifically provides such information is called community information center (CIC). It is also known by various other names. The main types of information served through CIS are survival information, citizen action information, and local information.
