Creating pamphlets

Creating a pamphlet that helps you communicate information about your new EHR really isn’t as scary as it sounds. You can use many programs to create a quick, easy-to-read pamphlet about your new EHR, and many of them are free or included with your computer. Most of them offer preset templates so you can drop your text into an existing design. Voilà! Instant pamphlet! Here are some options to check out:

Web-based publishing software and templates: You can download these free software options from the Internet: Open Office, Scribus, My Brochure Maker, and Brochure Monster.

Word processing programs: These programs are preloaded on your computer, or you can install from a CD/DVD: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Works, iWork, and WordPerfect. You may find free versions, but you should look into the paid versions to get their full capabilities. Word processing programs aren’t meant to create brochures, so you’ll most likely go through some trial and error to get the look you want.

Desktop publishing programs: These programs are dedicated page layout programs that you install from a CD/DVD: Adobe InDesign, PagePlus, The Print Shop, Print Artist, PrintMaster, Microsoft Publisher, Print Workshop, and Design & Print. These are high-end programs that require some expertise to use. But you can create some fancy brochures with these programs.
