Working within your timeline

Factor in enough time to conduct a thorough selection process and ultimately choose the best vendor product for you and your practice. If you have a specific (or approximate) go-live date, then work backward from that time. Here’s a timeline you can work from:

Account for one to two months for the initial work of researching, planning, and requesting information from potential vendors.

Plan for one to two months of demo time, in which you meet with prospective vendors so they can demonstrate the capabilities and functionality of their systems.

Allow for roughly one month to negotiate and make your final vendor selection.

You’re looking at an approximate six month commitment, depending on how much daily time you wish to dedicate to the vendor selection process.
