Confirming your trainers

In most implementations, the vendor performs the majority of the training because they have the experience and resources. However, if your practice is very large or you’re part of a multipractice installation, the vendor might bring in additional training help from an outside source. If that’s the case, be sure to confirm who your trainers will be and what their qualifications are before you get in a classroom with them.

remember.eps Trainers who’ve worked in an office, especially clinicians, generally provide greater value to you and your practice. They have a significant advantage over other trainers because they understand office workflows, can anticipate potential issues, and respond knowledgeably to most questions.

You should also identify a super user from your staff who can take over future training for new staff or provide follow-up training for all end users. A super user is a member of your staff who is particularly adept at using the practice’s EHR system and can teach others to use the technology.
