Transmission and distribution (T&D) network monitoring and control

Abstract:

This chapter describes the main technical limits that must be satisfied in the operation of T&D networks and how various system elements are controlled to ensure safe, continuous supply of electricity. Some discussion is given on the impact of renewable generation and the potential contribution of energy storage, along with some other developments that promise to provide greater flexibility to system operators.
