Abstract:
This chapter introduces the application of direct drive machines in wave energy conversion. Wave energy as a renewable resource is described, together with the principles and the challenges behind its capture and conversion. An overview of direct drive in wave energy is then presented, with a discussion of the current limitations and possible solutions.
