6.1 IDEAL AMPLIFIERS AND THEIR FEATURES

Amplification of a signal involves sensing a signal across a pair of terminals (if it is a voltage signal) or through a pair of terminals (if it is a current signal) and producing an identical copy of this signal across (or through) a second pair of terminals with only a scaling by a real number >1 and a possible change in dimensions (for example, the sensed signal may be a voltage and the amplified copy may be a current) effected.
