Chapter 5. Session beans

This chapter describes the concepts of session beans, and introduces the two types of session beans: stateful and stateless. We then expand the requirements of the online banking example presented in Chapter 2, “EJB architecture and concepts” on page 33 to show how to develop a session bean. Finally, some best practices for session bean development and the client view of a session bean are discussed.

At the conclusion of this chapter, you should have a good understanding of when session beans are appropriate choices for implementing business logic in your EJB applications.
