The Illustrated Talk

Illustrated talks are a very economical and flexible method of presenting a wide variety of program subjects.

Gathering material

The most obvious approach is to go out and shoot subjects as a documentary. if your program is discussing an industrial process, you may take a video camera along to a suitable factory or works, to shoot the subject in action. This may be quite practical, but it is not necessarily the best solution.

Firstly, there are often practical limitations;

• The cost, time, travel and general organizational effort involved.

• Local distractions, intrusions and noise can interfere with location shooting. • All the required subjects may not be available.
