Using Titling

Every production uses displays of lettering in one form or another:

• Program title (the name of the show).

• Introductory credits (production principals, cast list).

• Identifying titles/subtitles (location, performer, subject).

• Time (showing clock time, time taken).

• Graphics (tables, lists, charts, etc.).

• End credits (production team, cast list).

Titling methods

Many titling methods are available today – from hand-lettering to rub-on transfers, from lettering kits to computerized titling software. Instead of title cards or crawls/roller-captions set up in front of cameras, or titles prepared on photo-slides, electronic systems are now increasingly used.
