Narrow Angle Lens

The term ‘narrow angle’ covers lens settings from, for example, 15° to 5° or less. (Generally called ‘telephoto’.)

Advantages

As it fills the screen with a restricted area of the scene, the narrow angle lens gives you a ‘telescopic’ view of the subject. It is particularly useful when you need close shots from a distant camera, and obstacles, uneven ground or insufficient time prevent you from moving nearer with a normal lens angle.

Disadvantages

Shoot a flat subject, such as a painting, straight on with a narrow lens angle, and the result is identical to that with a ‘normal’ lens (although focusing may be more difficult).
