Traditional Project Management
Traditional Project Management (TPM) is the historical root of modern project management. Some would call it the “Happy Path.” These are the well-defined projects that populate the project landscape and provide a good starting point for your journey. Chapters 4 through 8 describe that journey, which has five basic phases:
- Scope a TPM project
- Plan a TPM project
- Launch a TPM project
- Monitor and control a TPM project
- Close a TPM project
The purpose of Part I was to define projects, project management, and the Process Groups. The five Process Groups and ten Knowledge Areas are the building blocks of every project management life cycle (PMLC). Chapters 4 through 8 present the linear PMLC and the robust use of these building blocks.
