CASE STUDY – PIZZA DELIVERED QUICKLY (PDQ)

  1. For the case study, construct the As Is and the To Be business processes for the Order Entry subsystem. You may have to make some assumptions about the “As Is” process, but just state your assumptions and move on.

Following is an example of an order entry use case for PDQ that you can use to help you answer the preceding question.

Basic Flow of Placing an Order

  1. This use case begins when the actor indicates they want to place an order.
  2. The system requests order information (coupon information).
  3. The actor provides valid order information.
  4. The actor indicates that the order information is complete.
  5. The system validates the address (additional detail).
  6. The system prices the order.
  7. The system displays the completed order with the price.
  8. The actor confirms the order.
  9. The system assigns the order to the appropriate preparation location.
  10. The system prioritizes the order.
  11. The use case ends when the system prioritizes the store orders.

2. Construct a PQM for a business process that you are familiar with. You can leave column 12 empty.

3. Document the As Is state and your ideas for the To Be state for a business process familiar to you that you believe should be improved.
