Preface to the Fourth Edition

All three of the previous editions of this book have been successful and have grown in value from their predecessors. The fourth edition is no exception, which includes several changes and additions throughout. Perhaps the most significant is the replacement of the case study. There are now two case studies. The first one is covered extensively in Part I with the Traditional Project Management (TPM) approach. The second is covered with Part II and the Adaptive Project Framework (APF) approach. I sincerely hope that the new case studies will further crystallize in your mind how the approaches are used effectively.

Even after four editions I still view EPM as a work in process. As I gain further experience with its use and as I hear from you, my faculty users and other professionals, the work will undoubtedly improve.

I would like to think that this edition offers you a complete view of effective project management as it is now practiced and how it should be practiced in the very near future.

Thank you again for adding my book to your project management library. If you have any questions or would just like to comment, you may contact me at .

Enjoy!
