Backup

It is important to enable the backup for your RDS instance and choose the backup as Windows. This is important when you expect a low write load on your database because it is true that the backup will be done without downtime but it can also influence the performance. For more information on best practices for Amazon RDS, refer to https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonRDS/latest/UserGuide/CHAP_BestPractices.html.

You can set up a daily backup and keep a maximum of 35 snapshots. Upon restore you can choose one of these 35 snapshots or any moment inside these 35 days using the new point-in-time recovery feature. For more information on this, refer to https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonRDS/latest/UserGuide/USER_PIT.html.
