CHAPTER 5

Giving Voice to Values in Human Resource Management Practice and Education

Charmine E. J. Härtel and Amanda Roan

Abstract

In this chapter we explore how GVV can be embedded in a Human Resource Management (HRM) curriculum. We begin by showing how we place HRM in an ethics context by emphasizing the advantages of developing a positive workplace environment (PWE) where people can perform to the best of their abilities and express and act on their personal values. Following discussion of the concept of PWE and how we introduce it to the classroom, we provide teaching notes and four examples of case studies where GVV is applied.

Keywords
