Life cycle assessment of equipment for electricity transmission and distribution networks

Abstract

This chapter begins with an introduction to life cycle assessment (LCA), and then summarizes one example of LCA on a power transformer, showing how LCA is performed on electrical equipment. Consequently, one case of a Venezuelan 765 kV transmission system in Venezuela has been investigated regarding its environmental aspects, by LCA, with the aim of analyzing its environmental impacts, locating the major environmental burden sources of transmission systems.
