Chapter 2. Knowing eBay Inside and Out
As eBay sellers, we generally have an attitude of "yeah, yeah, I know all about eBay, I sell on it every day." But do you, do you really? Okay, I'll roll with it, you know eBay. But indulge me here. Let me run through the very basics of where PowerSellers can sell on eBay. As part of your PowerSeller practices, I'm guessing that you routinely engage in more than one kind of eBay transaction. Perhaps a quick refresher on what's available to you on the site might just spark another new idea for your business.

The Web page shown in Figure 2-1 displays the eBay home page â at least the way it looked when I took the screen shot. Sellers rarely take the time to view the home page, but it's important for you to check it once in a while. That way you'll know what the buyers see when they come to the site.

Buyers â get it? This is the way they first look at eBay and get an impression of what's happening on the site. There are several versions of the home page; if you refresh your browser two or three times, you'll see them all and get the gist of what's going on.
The home-page layout changes a couple of times a year, but one thing stays the same: The special promotions change by season on the home page, providing links that go to related item searches on the site.
