Appendix B. Windows Media Center

Windows Media Center is a one-stop media viewing program that is optimized for HDTV and projectors. It features a so-called “10-foot UI (user interface)” for easy viewing in a living room or media room.

Windows Media Center can play back live or recorded TV (TV tuner required), movies, DVDs, music, photos, and FM radio (FM radio tuner required) from local or network sources.

Windows Media Center in Windows 8 is essentially the same as its Windows 7 predecessor. Refer to Chapter 17, “Adding and Using Multimedia Features,” for information on how to add Windows Media Center to your Windows 8 installation and for an overview of its features.
