Windows 8 includes two interfaces—the Modern UI tile interface on the Start screen, and the familiar Windows desktop. Every program—whether it’s designed for the new Windows 8 UI or for the Windows desktop—can be run from the Start screen. In this chapter, you learn how to find desktop programs, how to add your favorite apps to the Start screen, and how to add programs to the Windows 8 desktop. You also learn how to use some of the Windows desktop apps included in Windows 8.
