Part 1. Getting to Know the iPod

This chapter assumes that your iPod is brand-new, and that you’re eager to start using it. Later chapters offer information for folks who might have been using an iPod and iTunes software for awhile. But for now, I’m talking just to the iPod newbies.

I’ll bet you knew what an iPod looked like even before you purchased one. They’re everywhere these days; the familiar white or black rectangle encased in a skin, or a snazzy case, and the signature white earbuds. And you know that the iPod’s job is to play your music. In this part, you literally go inside the iPod box and are introduced to the device, its accessories, and how you and your computer will interact with it.
