A Brief Scanning of the CEE Countries

The following is a brief scanning of the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) countries to help in the understanding of their challenges and competitive advantages in furthering their economies and global market integrations that were discussed throughout the book.

Estonia

Estonia, with a population of only 1.3 million, is one of the least-populous member states of the European Union (EU), Eurozone, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the Schengen Area.1 Ethnic Estonians are Finns,2 and the official language, Estonian, is a Finno-Ugric language closely related to Finnish and the Sami languages, and distantly to Hungarian.
