Chapter 11. Reengineering the Earned Value Process for the Private Sector

We consider earned value to be an important tool in the management of our projects. In fact, at certain of our locations we have required earned value to be employed on all of our software projects over 2,000 hours in size.

--Mahvash Yazdi, Senior Vice President and CIO, Southern California Edison & Edison International

Earned value is used by our program office to identify activities which have adverse cost or schedule variances. This allows our projects to take corrective action so that the end date of the project and its budget are not impacted.

--Melanie Thomas, PMP, Senior Manager, Project Support, Computer Sciences Corporation, Tucson, Arizona
