Step Five: Developing Scenarios
By this time in the workshop, many of the group will have already put forward suggestions for change, and it is a good time to begin building high-level consensus around these proposals. Begin by drawing out several possible scenarios. These might be, for example,
Focusing on ORM and MRO with desktop requisitioning
Combining in-house systems with partial ASP outsourcing for catalog maintenance
Concentrating on direct procurement first, with full ERP integration
Dividing commodities into strategic and tactical; beginning with tactical first
Investigating auctions and exchanges for commodity purchasing and providing central purchasing specialists with portal subscriptions
