Securing the JSTP Database

Oracle8i provides various security mechanisms for controlling access to the data. These security features include user logons, passwords, privileges, auditing, and fine-grained access control. The Oracle Enterprise Manager can be used to simplify the administration of database security by allowing you to manage users, privileges, roles, profiles, and so on.

Database Users

Before any information can be accessed in the database, you should log in to the database using a valid username and password. This username is different from the operating system username.
