Oracle8i allows you to use an extensive set of SQL statements for manipulating the database objects. These SQL statements are categorized into Data Definition Language (DDL), Data Manipulation Language (DML), and Data Control Language (DCL) based on the functionality they provide. In addition, the Oracle data dictionary contains a number of tables and views that provide valuable information about the database. This appendix lists the most commonly used SQL statements and data dictionary views that can be useful in building Web-based database applications.
