My computer turns on, but nothing happens on the screen

  1. Remove your memory and video card and reinstall them both. These items may not be seated properly or may be making poor contact.

  2. Are all of your cables plugged in and secure? Check that your monitor's video connection is plugged into your video card and that its power cable is securely plugged into your electrical outlet.

  3. If this doesn't correct the problem, you either have bad memory or a bad video card. If you have another machine lying around that takes your type of memory or video card, try tossing those suckers in to see if they work. Otherwise, you'll need to send back the memory and the video card because there's no good way to determine which one failed.
