INEVER COULD HAVE WRITTEN THIS book had it not been for the substantial body of work by so many dedicated momentum researchers over the past 80 years. I am particularly indebted to Alfred Cowles III and Herbert E. Jones, who painstakingly hand-calculated and published the very first quantitative study of momentum in 1937. Practitioners today, me included, still incorporate momentum in much the same way that Cowles and Jones presented it.
