16.7. Standards Efforts for VoDSL

The DSL Forum has formed a voice working group and has defined requirements for both loop extension, which they have termed broadband loop emulation service (BLES), and for other packetized voice service architectures, which they have termed multi-service data networks (MDN). The existing technical reference [10] define functional and OAM requirements for these services and defines detailed architectures for the support of voice for a BLES environment. Work continues on defining requirements for MDN (VoDSL for packetized voice networks, e.g., VoIP for DSL).
