13.3. Standards for Autoconfiguration of DSL CPE

The DSL Forum is in the process of developing a series of recommendations for the autoconfiguration of DSL CPE which incorporates this philosophy of progressive initialization. An overall architecture is described in TR-46 [10]. The configuration of CPE to support the lower layers of an ATM-based stack is defined in TR-37 [8]. TR-44 [9] describes the configuration of the network parameters in CPE for those architectures that support an IP stack. There is work in progress to describe the tools for the autoconfiguration of CPE supporting interfaces more complex than those described in TR-44.
