12.4. Coax Cable-Based Home Networks
The Cablehome™ project by CableLabs® is developing technology for a coaxial cable-based home network to support both data and the quality-of-service capabilities needed for voice networking. Telephones and information appliances could be attached where cable outlets exist within the home. Because many homes have cable wall jacks on only one or two locations within the home, cable-based networking may be limited to those homes prewired for cable to many rooms.
