11.3. Spectral Balancing (Iterative Water-Filling)
Spectral balancing can be defined as a wide class of methods where systems may alter their power spectral densities for the common good of all DSL systems. This may be performed autonomously, and can be used with or without coordination. Generally, autonomous DSM improves all DSL systems' performance with respect to their current performance level (even if some have a fixed, nondynamic spectra). The more systems that execute DSM, the larger the improvements for all.
