10.4. Spectral Compatibility via Method of Signal Power Limitations (Method A)

As mentioned earlier, determination of spectral compatibility per Method A is simply to show that the signal to be transmitted in the cable falls within the signal power limitations for the corresponding deployment guidelines. Following are the aspects specified for use of Method A.

  • Power Spectral Density (PSD)— The PSD defines the distribution of signal power as a function frequency. The units of PSD are typically in dBm/Hz or in W/Hz.

  • Transmit Signal Power— Defines the total signal power measured across the full bandwidth of the signal. The units are typically expressed in dBm.
