An Example Plan

Chapters 3 through 8 focus on the activities associated with planning a site, creating a development plan for that site, implementing the site, and preparing to sustain the site. Reading about the processes, tasks, and analyses presented in those chapters isn't always the easiest way to understand what is being suggested. Sometimes, an example makes it easier to understand. Each of the preceding chapters presented isolated examples, but that might not be enough to understand the big picture.

This chapter presents a sample plan for a multipurpose, yet basic, site. The order in which the plan is presented matches the sequence of processes, tasks, and analyses presented in Chapters 3 through 5. The effort to create the plan was iterative and incremental:

  • After the initial brainstorming notes were captured, the process was started again, this time adding more detail and making decisions about how to proceed.
  • With each step forward in the planning process, additional requirements were uncovered and previous planning steps were updated accordingly.

This example plan is just one way to create and organize your project planning.
