Appendix A. The Directory Structure of a Drupal Installation

IN THIS APPENDIX

  • Getting a big picture of the Drupal directories

A complete Drupal installation includes a large number of directories and files. The directories and files reside on your server, typically, though not necessarily, in the public directory of your hosting account.

Figure A.1 is a view of the default installation of Drupal 7, with all the key directories expanded to give you the big picture of what is installed on your server.

Note

Testing directories are not expanded in the figure.

Note

Appendix B provides a map of the locations of the key files and directories that you may need to locate during the customization of your site.
