The hardest cannot be approached until you at least have some other group on board. You can skip the easy if they don’t exist at your workplace. But you cannot approach the hardest group, until you at least have some converts on your side.

Boss

Bosses are the hardest to convince. They take a lot of effort. You have to approach them on special terms, specifically their terms as noted in Chapter 10, The Boss. Additionally, you’re not trying to influence them in a vacuum. Everyone wants a piece of their time and attention, not just for issues related to your matter but all sorts of administrative minutiae. It’s not just about making the argument to them; it’s about making them care.
