CONVEYING EXPRESSION

From this priceless shot of a Basset Hound puppy, I want to create a portrait wherein the expression stands out more than anything else. To do this, I ensure that none of the background elements overwhelm the focal point—the dog’s innocent expression. I keep the details of the grass to a minimum, instead merely suggesting the grass with lighter tones. This keeps the focus on those classic “puppy-dog” eyes!
