Once you’ve mastered the subtleties of rendering fur and hair textures, you’ll be able to draw a whole zoo full of animals! Animals are more than their coats, however; for example, a dog has a wide array of textures to experiment with, from the shining eyes to the wet nose.

Silky I outline the prominent hair patterns with an HB and then put in some tone with strokes that follow the gentle waves of the hair. Then I use an eraser to pick out shiny highlights.
