Holly Berries

There are many interesting plants and flowers that make good drawing subjects. You can probably find some in your own garden. Select plants with simple shapes, and master drawing them before moving on to more complicated ones. Once you have practiced drawing holly and tulips, a plant with complex petal and leaf shapes will not seem too difficult.

Using an HB pencil, start with a center guideline that follows the general curve of the holly branch. Then block in the berries as one mass and the leaves as separate, simple polygons, as in steps A and B.
