Composition and Elements of Design
COMPOSITION
The term composition refers to the aesthetic wholeness of the drawing. Every element of a drawing contributes to its composition, including the placement of the media strokes on the page, the length, thickness, and texture of the strokes, the range of value, even the texture of the paper. In a successful drawing, all of these elements in combination subconsciously evoke emotional or conceptual meaning greater than the sum of its parts.
