My Dog, Chinese ink on rice paper.
“This technique requires that it is done in a single brushstroke; you cannot correct or adjust. (That is what I love about the technique. It makes the adrenaline flow and makes me concentrate fully on the now.) Chinese ink is water based, which means you can achieve all sorts of shades of gray, which I used here. The dog is my own dog, Ventje, Dutch for ‘little guy.’ I painted it from a photograph.”
