Sometimes you need to figure out ways to work around your natural tendencies if you want different results.

I tend to be neat and precise (some would say “tight”), especially after I’ve spent a fair amount of time on a drawing: I start to lose courage and don’t want to “mess it up.” For this reason, I often intentionally “mess up” the piece first thing, and in this case, with random watercolor marks.
