Moving Forward

Every downsizing lowers morale. People have just seen their co-workers and friends lose their jobs, and they know the hardships that these people are experiencing. Employees who survive the job cuts may even feel a certain amount of guilt because they still have a job. It is important to address the needs of those who remain in the organization, as well as those who have left. Providing opportunities to discuss their feelings and concerns and offering professional counseling to address these issues can have a necessary and very positive impact on employee morale after the downsizing.
