7.4. Summary

This chapter introduced modules, the lifeblood of any DNN website. There are many types of core modules that have their own unique functionality included with a DNN installation. However, I believe you can accomplish the majority of the implementation required for most websites if you have a thorough knowledge of the key core modules. This chapter highlighted many of their not-so-obvious features. If you understand how to get the most out of these key core modules, and master them, you will quickly build a solid foundation for building your own DNN website solutions. And quite possibly, once you get used to using some of the advanced features, you may find that you can accomplish far more with this base set of modules than you thought possible.

Some of the key information you learned from this chapter:

  • How to add modules and move them throughout the site easily.

  • How to synch the skin.css file to the Text/HTML module.

  • How to customize the CSS styles available directly inside the FCKeditor for editing—I believe this knowledge alone is worth the cost of this book many times over!

  • How to customize the layout of the Announcements and FAQ module.
