We’ve now exposed a hard truth: progressives lack a coherent, compelling explanation for what the economy is, how it works, and what we ought to do to and about it. On the other side, conservatives win arguments and steer policy in their direction by telling a consistent tale not only about how the economy functions but also about its very purpose in our lives.
