Part I of this book helped you get the server up and running. Now, after examining the server logs and listening to users, you decide there are areas that could stand improvement. What you do depends on where the issues exist.

The first task when performance tuning any system is to become aware of the configuration of the components with which you work. You should know what you have before you start changing anything.
