Managing the Database Cache

Each server maintains a database cache. A closed database is put in the cache when no users or processes are using the database. That makes closing it quicker. It remains in the cache until it's opened or for 15 to 20 minutes, whichever comes first.

The number of databases that can be stored simultaneously in the cache is the greater of 25 or the value of the NSF_Buffer_Pool_Size setting in the Notes.ini file divided by 300K. To change the number of database the cache holds, increase the value of the NSF_DbCache_Maxentries= setting in the Notes.ini. The other alternative is to add to the physical memory.
