Renaming Users

There are three actions that are considered renaming a user. They are

  • Upgrade to Hierarchical. You would use this to upgrade any users that were created using a flat certificate.

  • Change Common Name. This is the option you'll use to change a user's common name when his/her marital status changes, or if a mistake was made when creating his/her ID.

  • Request Move to New Certifier. While this is conceptually a move, you are really renaming the person using a new certifier, possibly one denoting a different department or location.

All these changes are accomplished through the Administration Process (AdminP) except in one case of changing the person's common name, but we'll cover that when we look at ways to request changes. ...
